Deaf man charged with threatening to blow up Statue of Liberty

A deaf West Virginia man is facing charges for allegedly threatening to blow up the Statue of Liberty, reports the New York Post. Jason Paul Smith was arrested in Texas yesterday. More than 3000 people were evacuated from Liberty Island because of the threat. The FBI says Smith used the name of 1993 World Trade Center bombing conspirator Abdul Yasin and could get as much as five years in jail for the hoax.
